BTS remains invincible in the monthly ranking

K-pop megastar BTS seems invincible as the seven-piece boy band dwells on the highest place of the table, according to a brand reputation analysis by the Korea Reputation Center (KRC).

The Seoul-headquartered outfit collected 72.84 million pieces of data between August 5 and September 6 to evaluate the brand power of the country’s most prominent 30 boy teams.

The KRC compiles related data including media attention, comments on social networking sites, and people’s interests to come up with a brand index of groups on a monthly basis.

Top-placed BTS gained 13,738,556 points, down 7.53 percent from a month ago, comprising 3,023,328 on the participation index, 3,378,176 on the media activity index, 3,322,077 on the communication index, and 4,014,975 on the community index.

Runner-up X1 acquired 5,734,703 points this month composed of 1,500,752 on the participation index, 1,801,984 on the media activity index, 1,029,557 on the communication index, and 1,402,410 on the community index.

No. 3 EXO’s brand index dipped 24.02 percent to 4,320,894 points month-on-month as the band scored 252,648 on the participation index, 1,007,360 on the media activity index, 1,714,437 on the communication index, and 1,346,449 on the community index.

NCT took the fourth slot with 3,184,543 points, up 24.42 percent from a month before. The group gained 112,816 on the participation index, 2,140,160 on the media activity index, 341,531 on the communication index, and 590,035 on the community index.

Seventeen placed fifth with 2,697,566 points, up 20.89 percent from August by obtaining 477,664 on the participation index, 956,928 on the media activity index, 744,854 on the communication index, and 518,119 on the community index.

KRC CEO Koo Chang-hwan said that the data for September increased 15.91 percent compared to August.

With regard to BTS, people frequently used such words as ‘frank and love.’ The most widely used keywords were ‘Jimin, Jungkook and V.’ Up to 81.09 percent of comments on the group were positive,” Koo said.
