K-pop boy band thanks US fans

After performing six sold-out shows in the United States, K-pop superstar BTS now heads toward Brazil to continue its concert tour in Sao Paulo this weekend.

During the three weeks, the seven-member boy band attracted more than 300,000 spectators in three U.S. cities of Pasadena in California, Chicago, and New Jersey.

BigHit Entertainment, the management agency that debuted the idol group in 2013, announced May 20 that up to 320,000 fans attended the six U.S. concerts.

After the last U.S. concert in New Jersey, BTS leader RM thanked U.S. fans in his ending speech.

“Dear America, thank you for embracing us. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for accepting us. These seven boys from Korea who are singers in Korean and who have even different looks, speak different languages. You guys truly teach us that music transcends the language,” he said.

“Let’s put away those dreams for a second. Now, I didn’t notice it, but I really realized that this moment and you guys here did become our real dream. I mean, that is important.”

He added, “Really, the most important thing is this moment, breathing with you guys, singing with you guys, just finally enjoying the same thing, the positive. This moment will forever be my dream. Thank you so much.”

The band also delivered its appreciation to U.S. fans through a message on its Twitter account.

“The U.S. tour is now over. Shout out to our fans for doing it together! Thank you!” it said. “Also, we promise to be back! I am your hope, you are my hope. I love you all!”

After wrapping up San Paulo stints, the septet will visit London, Paris, Osaka, and Shizuoka next month to continue its globe-trotting event named “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” tour.
