Why J-Hope is more valuable than bandmates?

According to CelebrityNetWorth, each member of K-pop sensation BTS is valued at $8 million as of last year. And there is an exception of J-Hope whose value is $12 million for some reason.

The website, which estimates the total assets and financial activities of celebrities across the world, does not elaborate on why the 25-year-old is more valuable than six other bandmates.

It just comes up with a biography of J-Hope, whose real name is Jung Ho-seok.

“J-Hope is a South Korean rapper, dancer, songwriter, and record producer who has a net worth of $12 million,” it says. “He is best known for being a rapper in the South Korean boy band, also known as the Bangtan Boys.”

The site claims that it comes up with net worth based on its proprietary algorithm.

“All of our figures and articles are thoroughly researched, scrutinized and fact-checked by our team of writers and financial analysts. The figures are acquired from all publicly available information including salaries, real estate holdings, divorces, record sales, royalties and endorsements,” the site notes.

“The net worths use a proprietary formula that removes estimated taxes, manager’s fees, agent fees, and lifestyle expenses.”

However, observers question the accuracy of the reports because there is seemingly no specific reason why J-Hope is 50 percent valuable than other BTS members.

J-Hope’s family background is also not extraordinary. As a son of a high-school literature teacher, he grew up in an ordinary family in Gwangju located in the south-west corner of Korea.

In addition, the net worth for BTS members appears to be too low. Each BTS member is estimated to earn more than $8 million last year alone when the boy band took over the music charts, building a loyal ARMY of fans along the way.

Short for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth, ARMY refers to the highly loyal fans of the septet.

Indeed, the site has been often criticized for a lack of transparency for its calculations.
