Korean cyber security firm eyes environmental management
South Korea’s primary cyber security company AhnLab announced on Aug. 5 that it had obtained the ISO14001 certification late last month to hold an awarding ceremony on the day.
The certification is an international standard for the environmental management system set by International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
An accredited certification body inspects a corporation’s environmental management manual, establishment of processes, and fulfillment of environmental management.
Within the certification process, AhnLab noted that it had received a positive evaluation for the CEO’s environmental management leadership and willingness to carry out, as well as executing detailed environment-centered tasks and communicating with stakeholders.
As a part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions, the company located south of Seoul introduced a webinar room, multi-use cups, and charging stations for electric vehicles.
Plus, AhnLab has been uploading posts to declare environmental policies and set detailed goals and announce progress for continuous improvement of environmental performances on its webpages, such as the ESG dashboard, to communicate with stakeholders.
“AhnLab will implement the environmental management system in overall company activities starting from the certification of ISO14001,” AhnLab CEO Kang Suk-kyoon said.
“AhnLab will create a virtuous cycle of environmental performance by continuously applying the PDCA cycle: plan, do, check, and act.”
Brief for Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance, ESG refers to the three major factors in gauging the sustainability of a corporation or business.
The concept has become a buzzword in the world over the past several years.
