BTS fans rush to watch the Shawshank Redemption

Whatever BTS members talk seems to have a big influence, and this time around, it is about a movie. BTS is a seven-member Korean boy band.

In a recent interview with the Entertainment Weekly, an American magazine that covers film, TV, music, and books, BTS members were asked to recommend a movie.

The question was “What’s one old film that you think everyone should see?” and BTS member V, or Kim Tae-hyung, answered that it is “the Shawshank Redemption.”

Then, fans rushed to watch the 1994 American movie. At Youtube, all video clips regarding the drama film are full of comments related to the band that was formed in 2013.

“Thanks, Tae-hyung. I will watch it heartily,” one fan said.

“Without Tae-hyung, I wouldn’t have ever seen this movie,” another fan noted.

BTS has gained prominence not only in Korea but also across the world over the past few years as amply demonstrated by the fact that it became the first K-pop act to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart midway through 2018.

BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, was the most re-tweeted celebrities in the world for two straight years through 2018. Fans have paid close attention to the members’ words and behaviors no matter how trivial they are.

The Shawshank Redemption is a movie based on a 1982 Stephen King novel. It is about the story of a banker imprisoned despite his claims of innocence. Its cast includes Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
