Boy group brand reputation analysis released for Ocrober

Who can beat K-pop megastar BTS? The seven-piece boy band remains ahead of the pack, according to a brand reputation analysis by the Korea Reputation Center (KRC).

The Seoul-based outfit collected 55 million pieces of data between September 10 and October 11 to evaluate the brand power of the country’s most prominent 30 boy teams.

The KRC compiles related data, including media attention, comments on social networking sites, and people’s interests to come up with a brand index of groups on a monthly basis.

Top-placed BTS gained 13.21 million points this month. It marked a 3.85-percent decrease from a month ago but it was good enough to beat competitors in a convincing fashion.

Runner-up EXO acquired 4.55 million points, up 5.42 percent month-on-month, followed by Seventeen with 3.28 million points, Shinee with 2.12 million points, and NCT with 2.04 million points.

KRC CEO Koo Chang-hwan said that the data for October decreased 3.85 percent compared to September.

“With regard to BTS, people frequently used such keywords as ‘Jimin, J-hope, and Saudi Arabia.’ Up to 81.09 percent of comments on the group were positive,” Koo said.

Jimin and J-hope are two members of the idol group.

BTS, otherwise known as the Bangtan Boys, performed in Saudi Arabia on October 11 to attract fans.

“BTS is the first artist in history to sell out a whole stadium in Saudi Arabia and the first foreign artist to perform,” a fan said.
