Boy group member tops the podium for 11 straight months

BTS member Jimin was named the top idol for September to remain atop the table for 11 straight months, according to a brand reputation analysis by the Korea Reputation Center (KRC).

The Seoul-based entity collected 110 million pieces of data between August 12 and September 13 to evaluate the brand power of the country’s most prominent idol stars.

The KRC compiles related data including media attention, comments on social networking sites, and people’s interests to come up with a brand index of entertainers on a monthly basis.

Jimin took the highest place by scoring 8.64 million points, down 4.84 percent from a month ago.

His two bandmates of Jungkook and V closely chased him.

Jungkook, whose full name is Jeon Jung-kook, took the second slot with 6.76 million points, up 4.79 percent from August.

Coming at third was V, who gained 6.38 million points, down 20.37 percent from a month before. His real name is Kim Tae-hyung.

Baekhyun of boy band EXO assumed the fourth spot with 3.08 million points, down 21.08 percent month-on-month, followed by Cha Eun-woo of ASTRO with 3 million points, down 40.35 percent from a month earlier.

“With regard to Jimin, people talked about such issues as solo and ARMY,” KRC CEO Koo Chang-hwan said. “Up to 83.7 percent of comments on Jimin were positive.”

Short for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth, ARMY refers to loyal fans of BTS across the world.

BTS members managed to dominate the monthly research, although the seven-piece idol group started taking a break last month.

BTS, otherwise known as the Bangtan Boys, is expected to return in October to perform in Saudi Arabia after wrapping up its first vacation since its debut in 2013.
