Boy group member remains unbeatable for a full year

BTS member Jimin was named the top idol for October to remain atop the table for 12 straight months, according to a brand reputation analysis by the Korea Reputation Center (KRC).

The Seoul-based outfit collected 116 million pieces of data between September 17 and October 18 to evaluate the brand power of the county’s most prominent idol stars.

The KRC compiles related data, including media attention, comments on social networking sites, and people’s interests to come up with a brand index of entertainers on a monthly basis.

Jimin took the highest slot by scoring 8.78 million points, up 1.6 percent from a month ago.

Baekhyun of boy band EXO assumed the second position with 4.79 million points, up 55.63 percent from September.

Jimin’s two bandmates of V and Jungkook followed Baekhyun with 4.62 million points and 4.13 million points, respectively.

The two figures represent decreases of 27.7 percent and 38.84 percent from a month before, apiece.

Coming at fifth was EXO’s Kai, who gained 3.81 million points, up 202.35 percent month-on-month.

“With regard to Jimin, people talked about such issues as birthday, ARMY and fandom,” KRC CEO Koo Chang-hwan said. “Up to 83.7 percent of comments on Jimin were positive.”

Jimin’s birthday fell on October 13, just after the seven-piece boy band performed in Saudi Arabia.

Brief for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth, ARMY refers to loyal fans of BTS across the world.

BTS, otherwise known as the Bangtan Boys, is expected to play in Seoul later this month.
