UN publishes short video of K-pop boy band

The United Nations recently published a short video of K-pop superstar BTS, which was produced by the United Nations Children’s Fund to promote its campaign called “Generation Unlimited.”

The campaign refers to a global partnership working to prepare young people to become productive and engaged citizens, according to the UN.

In line with the theme, BTS members wished for hope and happiness for young generations in the one-minute, three-second YouTube video clip that was uploaded last week.

Leader RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon and the only fluent English speaker in the seven-member group, mostly delivered the message.

“It’s an important issue like our Love Yourself campaign. We hope the Love Yourself campaign can help children and young people who are exposed to any form of violence,” the 24-year-old said.

“We hope that everything we do could be a little help. Even if it’s so little, we just want to make you feel better.”

RM’s bandmate Jimin came up with a similar message.

“I’m reminded of what RM has told me in the past. If, through us, someone could be made a little bit happier, that’s what motivates us to take action,” he said.

In the last minute, J-Hope butted in to say “We want to give hope.”

While posting the clip titled at “BTS at the United Nations,” the UN noted “BTS on their support for our end-violence campaign and the launch of Generation Unlimited, a new global partnership to help every young person into quality education, training or employment by 2030.”

This is not the first time that BTS supports the UN campaign.

On Sept. 24, last year, the idol group became speakers at Generation Unlimited event at the meeting room of the UN Trusteeship Council in New York. Back then, RM made the speech to attract positive responses from across the world.
