NASA 'moon tunes' include three BTS songs

A total of three songs of K-pop sensation BTS will be included in the playlist of the U.S. space agency’s planned journey to the moon in the coming years.

In a recent Twitter feed, the Johnson Space Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said that three BTS songs will hit the playlist for the lunar journey.

The three songs of Moonchild, Mikrokosmos, and 134340 have something to do with the moon or cosmos.

“Wow, there are a lot of BTS & RM fans! Thanks for the submissions – we’ll add Moonchild, Mikrokosmos & 134340 to the playlist!,” the Twitter message noted.

BTS is a seven-piece boy band, which came up with its fourth studio album “Map of the Soul: Persona” midway through April to rock the pop music scene across the world.

The idol group, which was formed in 2013, is now on a globe-trotting stadium tour as a follow-up to the mini album. After finishing their concerts in U.S. cities, Sao Paulo, London, and Paris, the septet will move toward Japan.

RM, short for rap monster, is the leader of BTS. His real name is Kim Nam-joon.

Earlier this month, the NASA training center asked people to recommend songs to keep astronauts entertained on the flight to the moon.

“Music has been interwoven throughout spaceflight history, from pre-launch songs to shuttle wake-up calls to crewmembers playing instruments on the International Space Station,” it said.

“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, we’re also preparing to go back to the Moon by 2024, which means astronauts will have a non-stop journey of approximately 3 days each way – the ultimate long-distance travel.”

It was highly expected that Moonchild would be among the “moon tunes,” the 2018 song of RM.

And the ARMY, the loyal BTS fans, made loud voices to make two other BTS songs to be in the playlist.

134340, which was announced last year, is about the used-to-be planet that is part of our solar system – Pluto.
