Korea’s system integrator joins hands with Samsung

CJ OliveNetworks, one of the top South Korean system integrators, announced on Nov. 4 that it would come up with new titles mastered with next-generation video technology dubbed HDR10+.

As the first case, the Seoul-based company plans to showcase the thriller movie “Voice” remastered with HDR10+ through homegrown over-the-top platforms this week.

HDR is short for high dynamic range. HDR10+ adds dynamic metadata to HDR10 source files to adjust and optimize each frame of the HDR video.

First announced in early 2017 by Samsung Electronics and Amazon Video, HDR10+ is an updated version of HDR10 and has competed with Dolby Vision.

HDR10+ has won the hearts and minds of end customers as the technology is designed to adjust brightness levels up to 10,000 nits maximum brightness.

Samsung created the HDR10+ Alliance to promote the advanced technology along with Panasonic and 20th Century Fox. CJ OliveNetworks also joined the alliance.

“An increasing number of smart devices support HDR10+ as high-quality video content continues to hit the market,” CJ OliveNetworks senior official Choi Do-sung said.

“We will keep investing in media technology to maximize the experience of our customers.”

CJ OliveNetworks is headed by CEO Cha In-hyok.
