System integrator teams up with leading brewery

CJ OliveNetworks, a top-tier South Korean system integrator, announced on Feb. 7 that it would build a smart factory system for Oriental Brewery (OB), the country’s dominant brewery.

Under the smart factory system, which will be completed this August, all facilities will be operated digitally through the internet of things (IoT) technology, according to CJ OliveNetworks.

The IoT refers to groups of objects with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies necessary to connect and exchange data with other devices over the communication networks.

An increasing number of corporations and organizations have adopted the emerging technology over the past several years across the globe.

CJ OliveNetworks noted that the project with OB focuses on collecting and analyzing data. It will also cooperate with Siemens as the two companies signed an agreement last year.

The Seoul-based company commented that the new factory system would offer managers more visibility and operability through the real-time data collection infrastructure.

In case any problems take place, corrective measures would be immediately implanted to ensure quality control.

“We support the total solution, including data collection, monitoring, data analysis, security, and backup management,” CJ OliveNetworks AI factory team leader Kim Dae-hwan said.

“Going forward, we will come up with a dedicated solution for various industries like beverage, bio, and chemical companies via an infrastructure enabling digitalization.”

CJ OliveNetworks is headed by chief executive Cha In-hyok.

OB has ruled the South Korean market with its flagship OB beer. It is the Korean affiliate of Anheuser-Busch (AB) InBev.
