Boy band continues to gain traction

Whatever BTS member Min Yoon-gi puts on his lips seems to come true. Min, better known by his stage names Suga and Agust D, expressed his hope of topping the Billboard albums chart last May, just after the K-pop band came up with its third studio album, “Love Yourself, Tear.”

The boy band achieved the feat in a convincing fashion – twice last year and once this year via their latest mini-album, “Map of the Soul: Persona” released last month.

Back then, he also talked about a concert tour in stadiums and arenas as well as taking part in at the Grammy Awards. Both were realized in less than a year.

BTS became the first Korean act to present at the Grammy Awards early this year. And the seven members had a worldwide tour last year mostly at large-sized stadiums or arenas. They will start another one this month.

On April 17 this year, Suga told a press conference in Seoul that he wishes to get prizes at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

BTS was nominated for two categories for 2019, and just ahead of the event, Suga talked about winning both. Once again, things went just as he said.

The septet snagged the Top Social Artist for three straight years this year’s Billboard event this week.

In addition, the idol group added one more prize of Top Duo/Group by besting such Grammy-winning competitors as Maroon 5, and Imagine Dragons.

Then, the questions are what’s on his mind now and will it come true, again. Only Suga will know – he gained the stage name thanks to his love of basketball. His position is shooting guard and Suga is an abbreviation of the term.
