Two entities seek win-win relationship in an event in Croatia

Hyundai Motor lays its eyes on the potential of the new auto industry in Croatia together with its partner Rimac Automobili, which develops and manufactures key electrification systems for global automakers.

The Seoul-based company said July 1 that its Executive Vice President Thomas Schemera was invited to join an event hosted by Rimac founder Mate Rimac late last month in Rimac’s head office on the outskirts of Zagreb.

The European country’s top politicians including Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and other ministers took part in the high-profile gathering.

“We are encouraged by the Croatian government's support for our partnership with Rimac,” Schemera said.

“We will further bolster our strategic partnership in developing high-performance electric vehicle and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) prototypes across the Hyundai Motor Group brands."

Rimac CEO Mate Rimac responded that the company will strengthen its partnership with Hyundai to tap into the new possibility of the autmotive industry.

“To be attractive to the automotive manufacturers and suppliers, Croatia needs to develop comparative advantages over other countries. Rimac wants to contribute to attracting investors to Croatia, and our role is to point to the needs and expectations of the auto industry,” he said.

“Having our shareholders support the initiative is highly encouraging. Them joining the event proves the strength of strategic partnership between Rimac and Hyundai Motor Group focused on collaboration in the development of the disruptive technologies that steer the new auto industry.”

Earlier this year, Hyundai announced to invest 80 million euros in Rimac to lead the high-performance electrified vehicle market.

Thereafter, the two have been cooperating to develop prototypes for an electric version of Hyundai’s N brand midship sports car and a high-performance FCEV.
