4 vehicles recognized by ASG

A total of four vehicles of Hyundai Motor earned Performance Awards from Automotive Science Group (ASG), which measures a car’s performance based on object data, the Seoul-based automaker said June 8.

They are Kona, Santa Fe, Ioniq Plug-in, and Ioniq Hybrid.

The Hyundai Kona received Best Economic Performance in the mini crossover segment for the second consecutive year. ASG said the model costs 27 percent less than its rivals in the first 6.5 years of its life-cycle.

The Hyundai Santa Fe got a Best Five All-Around Performance Award in its class, while rising to the top in a sports utility vehicle segment that included more than 400 model variants.

The two Ioniq versions were recognized for their environmental and economic performances.

“The recognition by ASG, one of the most trusted data-driven names in the automotive industry, is a testament to Hyundai’s focus on quality and excellence in social, environmental, and economic performance,” Hyundai Director Scott Margason said.

“These four performance awards demonstrate Hyundai’s commitment to making vehicles that meet the unique needs of customers and deliver exceptional efficiency, quality, value, and technology.”

For its all-round performance analysis, ASG looks into economic, environmental, and social performance indicators across a vehicle’s life-cycle.

“ASG’s data-driven rating platform is based on the scientific principles of ecological economics. By removing personal bias from our assessments, we are the only authority that leverages scientific analysis to differentiate true innovations in the hyper-competitive automotive marketplace,” it notes.

“We identify the best automobiles based on the facts. No subjective opinion based reviews here, this is data-driven analysis.”
