Le Guide de l’auto gives award to Hyundai EV

The 2023 Ioniq 6 has won its first Canadian award, with Le Guide de l’auto naming the latest electric car “New Car of the Year” in the media outlet’s annual “Best Buys” award program.

Le Guide de l’auto’s Vehicles of the Year awards were decided by eight journalists with more than 150 years of collective experience evaluating new vehicles.

Upside of 40 vehicles were eligible for an award, and winners were selected based on their impact on the automobile market as well as five criteria.

They were fuel or energy consumption, predicted reliability, safety, driving dynamics, and overall appreciation.

“As one of the world’s leading regions for EV adoption, customers and journalists in the province of Quebec have an exceptional level of appreciation for electric vehicles,” Hyundai Director Steve Flamand said.

“To receive this recognition for Ioniq 6 from Le Guide de l’auto – an outlet committed to providing deeply-researched and unbiased advice to Quebec consumers - is an honor we are very grateful for.”

Frédéric Mercier, the chief editor at Le Guide de l’auto, said that all winners of the three major categories _ new car, new SUV, and new truck _ were electric vehicles.

“This was an exciting selection process for Le Guide de l’auto’s team this year, and our winners are a sure sign of exponential EV growth in the marketplace within the past 12 months,” he said.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the second model of the company to ride on its exclusive electric-global modular platform that allows for dual motors, more interior space, and optimized performance.

IONIQ 6 is part of Hyundai Motor Company’s plan to introduce 17 battery-based EV models and sell more than 1.8 million units worldwide by 2030.
