Korean automaker presents cutting-edge techs at NY exhibition

Hyundai Motor has showcased its leading-edge technologies and latest innovative models at an exhibition, which explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and the art world.

The Seoul-based company presented NEXO FCEV, Kona EV, and 2020 Sonata at Christie’s 2019 Art+Tech Summit: The AI Revolution, which took place in New York on June 25.

The automaker curated the exhibition named “The Future Landscape,” which showed off examples of the art-technology convergence and sustainable mobility.

Hyundai Executive Vice President Cho Won-hong gave the opening remarks of the gathering, which will be open to the public from June 26-28.

“Hyundai Motor supports the strong connection between art and technology. The two disciplines are woven together through our vision to become a leading mobility solutions company,” he said.

“Through this summit and our partnership with Christie’s, we hope to further explore the intersection between art and technology as well as its promising future. We want to continue to spark conversations about the next evolution of sustainable mobility, and reflect on the human aspect of the next industrial revolution.”

Prominent members of Hyundai’s marketing team as well as world-renowned designers, entrepreneurs, technologists, curators, scholars, journalists, and other professionals also gave their insights.

In particular, Jennifer Zatorski, president of Christie’s Americas, expressed high hopes on Hyundai’s exhibition.

“We recognize Hyundai Motor’s strong commitment to the arts, particularly its focus on the relationship between art and tech, as seen in its support for LACMA’s ‘Art+Technology LAB’ and its creation of the ‘Art+Technology’ video series with Bloomberg,” she said.

“Hyundai’s philosophy of thinking beyond technology to create meaningful experiences, and to challenge the standards of design.”
