Dongduk students pitch ideas for new businesses

J1 Business Center announced on Dec. 7 that the Seoul-based outfit had awarded varsity students with outstanding proposals for new business opportunities.

J1, which accommodates startups to help them take firm root, said that the event took place together with Dongduk Women’s University in Seoul.

Participants in the event showed their capability in information technology and gaming solutions, which can be used to start new businesses.

Team CPU topped the podium while the After Campus team garnered the second prize, followed by the With You team and the Run With team.

“This award would motivate us to work harder,” a member of Team CPU said after winning the grand prize.

Park Il-joon from J1 Business Center said that the outfit would continue to buttress collegians down the road.

“Many university students suffer from the aftermaths of the novel coronavirus. We want to breathe fresh energy into their life,” said Park, who worked as a judge of the event.

“We strive to become a player of supporting female students, who are set to start businesses based on their info-tech competency.”

J1 Business Center currently houses dozens of startups, which vie to become unicorn companies.

"It is very significant for corporations or incubation centers to encourage entrepreneurship. Our country needs such a scheme," Prof. Seo Yong-gu at Sookmyung Women's University said.

"Looking forward, I hope that a mounting number of companies or incubation centers join the agenda of supporting start-ups."
