Her Chul-ho will lead Korea's top ginseng company

Korea Ginseng Corporation (KGC) said on March 29 that it had held a shareholders' meeting to appoint Her Chul-ho as its new chief executive officer.

KGC is the country's top-tier ginseng company with the premium red ginseng brand of CheongKwanJang, which is available in more than 40 countries across the world.

The new CEO got aboard KT&G, the mother company of KGC, in 1996 and assumed various tasks in sales, global business, and communications departments.

"New CEO Her has strong thrusts and a wealth of experience not only in the local market but also in the global competition," a KGC official said.

"Based on such capabilities, he is regarded as the right person to lead change and innovation to expand the market share across the world."

KGC, whose history stretches back to 1899, has strived to beef up its footing on the global scene based on its strict quality control and vehement research efforts.

The Seoul-based company uses merely six-years-grown ginseng, which conforms to the conditions regarding cultivated land, feed, and technology, according to KGC.

It has also funneled 20 percent of its annual profits into research and development every year, as well as managing more than 130 professional researchers.
