Korea Ginseng Corporation (KGC) announced on Feb. 21 that its CEO Her Chul-ho had visited China to tap into the mega-sized market for healthy foods.

In particular, Her visited Jilin, Shenzhen, and Shanghai for 10 years to review the company’s Chinese strategy and meet with senior officials of the provinces.

On Feb. 16 and 17, he held a meeting with Jilin Province Gov. Han Jun and other senior officials.

During the meeting, participants discussed various ways to chalk up substantial development in mutual cooperation in trades of ginseng-related products like healthy food, cosmetics, and medicines.

Visiting Jilin University, Her stressed the significance of carrying out joint research projects to test the benefits of ginseng.

He also held meetings with chiefs of major corporations.

As South Korea’s top ginseng manufacturer, KGC has increased its sales in the global markets.

As of last year, KGC racked up 201.7 billion won ($155 million) in overseas sales, up 8 percent from 2021. Its fourth-quarter results amounted to 75.1 billion won, up 21 percent year-on-year.

The outstanding performances in the fourth quarter were boosted by the company’s four major offshore branches of China, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan.

In particular, its 2022 Chinese sales jumped 18 percent from a year before.

KGC said that it would further strengthen its globalization in tandem with Her’s visit to China.
