Two countries will cooperate for hydrogen business
South Korea’s H2Korea announced on Dec. 6 that it had jointly hosted a green hydrogen strategic forum with Oman Embassy in Seoul early this week.The meeting was aimed at promoting hydrogen-related industries. Representatives of the two companies took part in it, along with officials of POSCO and Samsung Engineering.The former is South Korea’s largest steel maker, while the latter is the country’s major contractor.Participants come up with their commitment to using green hydrogen instead of grey hydrogen.Grey hydrogen, which is made from natural gas, or methane, is the most common form of hydrogen production today. But, it does not capture greenhouse gases.By contrast, green hydrogen is the only type made in a climate-neutral manner, and an increasing number of countries have set up strategies to replace grey hydrogen with green one.“The sky is potential for the cooperation between South Korea and Oman when it comes to the hydrogen industry,” H2Korea Chairman Moon Jae-do said.“We hope that the two countries will collaborate in the realm of green hydrogen.”H2Korea is South Korea’s state-run outfit geared toward supporting the hydrogen economy _ using hydrogen to decarbonize economic sectors that are hard to electrify.Midway through 2022, almost 20 organizations from across the world formed a global organization called the Global Hydrogen Industrial Association Alliance (GHIAA).The alliance is geared toward founding a new ecosystem focusing on hydrogen. H2Korea chief Moon was elected to head the GHIAA for the next two years.Moon worked for the country’s industry-trade ministry and headed the state-run Korea Trade Insurance Corporation.이 기사를 공유합니다
