Korea’s leading flag carrier returning to Zurich, Prague

Beginning this Spring, Korean Air will resume flights to four major European cities for the first time after the virus pandemic took the world by surprise three years ago.

Included in the cities are Zurich, Prague, Madrid, and Istanbul, according to the Korean flag carrier on April 5.

The carrier already resumed flying to Zurich and Prague late last month. Its air routes to Madrid and Istanbul will also reopen later this month.

All of the flights are between the Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, to the cities three times a week.

The Incheon-Prague route is being operated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while the schedule toward Zurich is every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Starting April 24, Korean Air airplanes for Istanbul will take off every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Incheon-Madrid flights will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from April 25.

Korean Air said that the four cities had been loved by Koreans.

For Korean tourists, for example, Prague has been a gateway to eastern European countries like Hungary, and Austria, on top of the Czech Republic.

As the largest city in Switzerland, Zurich has attracted visitors to the Alps, which have such famous mountain peaks as Mont Blanc and  Jungfrau.

Istanbul and Madrid also won the hearts and minds of Koreans, who strived to enjoy cultural assets and cuisines in the cities and nearby tourist attractions.

“In timed with the post-pandemic era, Korean Air is determined to meet the rising demand for overseas flights in a proactive way,” a Korean Air official said.
