New BTS fan community called BTS Weverse

BTS Weverse does not work properly on Day 1

BigHit Entertainment, which debuted K-pop superstar BTS in 2013, has become the most valuable management agency in Korea thanks to the seven-member boy band.

The Seoul-based label is valued at around $1 billion. Some even say that its real value should be more than $2 billion in consideration of the ever-rising popularity of the septet.

BigHit has made big money in various ways ranging from album sales and concert tours to endorsement and sponsorship contracts thanks to its precious asset BTS.

Now, BigHit seems to want more as it built its own entertainment platform called Weverse, a mobile application developed by its affiliate beNX.

It is an official fan community where BigHit wants BTS fans to communicate with the boy group. The entertainment firm is expected to upload many contents related to BTS there.

BTS, otherwise known as the Bangtan Boys, has been communicating with fans via such mainstream social media as Twitter and Weibo.

BigHit does not elaborate, but it seemingly strives to create its own “walled garden” without being happy with the existing social networking sites.

“Ever wonder how BTS members are doing? Daily moments shared by BTS members and various contents exclusive only on Weverse. Welcome to the official BTS Weverse,” the BTS Weverse notes.

Only BTS and TXT, another boy band formed by BigHit, have a Weverse page. It remains to be seen whether other artists will also want to take advantage of the new platform.

Many BTS fans complained that Weverse did not work properly from Day one as they struggled to sign up. It also said that there’s no internet connection.

Some guessed that servers went down because of heavy traffic load, but BigHit did not explain in detail.
