Korea continues to be an important partner for Angola to be taken into account. The accumulated experience in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, added to the scientific and technological potential that Korea has, constitute sufficient elements for Angola to continue to work on strengthening cooperation in the most diverse domains, during and after the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the fields of science and technology, innovation, the automobile industry, sustainable development, and health, etc.

In the course of 2021, efforts were made to increase bilateral cooperation, particularly in the commercial area. In addition to ongoing Korean projects in Angola, the private partnership allowed the donation to Angola of 10,000 Rapid Antigen tests against the COVID-19 virus, made by the Korean company SD Biossensor Inc.; 50,000 masks offered by the South Korean company Global Korea, National People Group; the donation of an ambulance in good technical condition and of a medical device Remission 1C, by AdipoLABs and other various supplies, which the Embassy shared internally and extended to the Angolan community residing in Korea.

Therefore, the business partnership between Angola and Korea has a relevant meaning, as it contributes to the development of Angola and the deepening of relations between the two countries.

The business visits of South Koreans to Angola and the technical meeting between MIREX and MOFA of Korea, held in the second semester of this year in Seoul, served as an antechamber for the reinforcement of cooperation and implementation of the main actions recommended for the first semester of 2022.

Ambassador of Angola to the Republic of Korea

As we bid farewell to 2021 and prepare for welcoming the New Year 2022, it gives me immense pleasure to extend, on behalf of the Embassy of Bangladesh, the best wishes to the friendly people of the Republic of Korea for a happy and prosperous New Year.

I am also immensely delighted for the collaborative efforts by both Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea for further development of the bilateral relationship in depth and dimension.

Our relations, based on mutual trust, respect, common values, and friendship, have been ever-spending since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1973.

The Republic of Korea remains one of the major development partners of Bangladesh through its supportive role in Bangladesh’s strides for socio-economic development.

I firmly believe that the current development trajectories of the two countries offer huge prospects for further bilateral collaboration in varied fields on a win-win proposition.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Korea News Plus for their commendable efforts in providing essential information and in connecting its readers to the world.

I wish Korea News Plus a lot of success and prosperity in times to come.

May this New Year bring the best of health, happiness, and peace to all the friendly people of the Republic of Korea.

Dear readers,

Let me express my sincere congratulations to the upcoming year 2022. The previous year, 2021, will remain in our memory as a difficult, but at the same time, remarkable period, rich in events both for the whole world and for each country.

We will remember 2021 as a year of intense struggle against the COVID-19. Many states have chosen their own path to counter this threat. But each of them has made and continues to make its own contribution to the overall task of overcoming the pandemic.

The outgoing year also reminded us of other serious problems for all mankind. Among them is the need to develop joint measures to combat climate change. Rising temperatures on the Earth can have serious consequences that can only be tackled together.

At the same time, 2021 also marked new prospects and areas of cooperation between countries. In this regard, Belarus-Korea relations have been steadily developing within the New Northern Policy.

Within its framework, there are significant prospects for interaction between Belarusian and South Korean companies in the fields of biotechnology, microelectronics, laser technology, and new materials.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere congratulations on the New Year.

With the best wishes for happiness and prosperity,

Andrew Chernetsky,

Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Korea

Dear readers,

As 2021 draws to a close, it is with great pleasure that I convey greetings to all of you on behalf of the Latvian Embassy in Korea and myself.

The year 2021 was very special for Latvia and Korea as we celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as well as the 30th anniversary of the joint accession to the U.N. Marred by the pandemic, our milestone achievements that deserve celebrating, could not be put in the spotlight with large gatherings, but I was delighted to witness on various occasions the budding interest in Latvia not only as a tourist destination but also a charming investment market among Koreans.

In 2022, I look forward to sowing more seeds of friendship in the hearts of Koreans and growing them into towering trees.

With Tiger’s energy every step of the way, I sincerely hope that 2022 would be a year of progress for all of you and also in the relations between Latvia and Korea.

Laimīgu Jauno gadu!

Saehae bog manh-i bad-euseyo! (새해 복 많이 받으세요!)

Happy New Year!

Peru

The bilateral relation between the Republic of Peru and the Republic of Korea is in its highest level. In the present year, we are accomplishing 10 years of the entry in force of our Free Trade Agreement, which allowed the strengthening of our economic relationship.

Likewise, in the year 2022, we will be commemorating 10 years of our Integral Strategic Partnership Association and in the year 2023, the sixty years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.

Peru and Korea’s bilateral relationship comprises several areas of cooperation, among which we could find political, economic, trade, tourism, culture, and the promotion of democracy and human rights in the world as shared values of both countries.

In this sense, it is important to outline that Korea is the Fourth trade Partner in the world for Peru, and we are one of the most important partners to Korea in the South American region in ODA direct cooperation.

Likewise, Korea is becoming one of the most important partners to Peru in developing infrastructure projects. A Korean consortium is leading the construction of the emblematic Chincheros Airport in Cusco, and several Korean enterprises are participating in construction projects in Peru.

Finally, in the year 2021, Peru has commemorated its 200 years of Independence, our “Bicentennial” as a Republic. In that sense, Korea has become one of our most important partners and friends on the international stage, and I am sure that this relation will become stronger in 2022 and in the years to come.

Happy New Year!

Daúl Matute Mejía,

Ambassador of Peru to the Republic of Korea

Korea: Elevating Relations in 2022

The Philippines and Korea have long-standing relations forever anchored on our shared sacrifices during the Korean War. In 2021, we commemorated the 71st anniversary of the sending of the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea or PEFTOK.

The Philippines was the first Asian country to respond to the call of the United Nations to help Korea during that critical time in the country's history. The Philippines was likewise the fifth country in the world and the first ASEAN country to recognize Korea as a sovereign state.

Today, this historic bond between the Philippines and Korea has not diminished. It has only grown stronger with each passing decade and is characterized by dynamism and deeper engagement.

Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, Korea was one of the first countries to provide health-related assistance to the Philippines, including most recently donating vaccine doses for the Philippines. Nearly two years into the global pandemic, the Philippines and Korea continue to closely coordinate and share information on responding to the challenges of the pandemic.

Our countries likewise continue to have active engagement in the Political, Security, Economic, Defense, Cultural, and people-to-people fields. We concluded in October 2021 the negotiations for the Philippines-Korea Free Trade Agreement, which we hope will be implemented early in 2022.

Korea is also one of our major defense procurement partners and has been pivotal to the Philippines' efforts to upgrade our military and defense capabilities. The Philippines' latest defense acquisitions from Korea include two multi-mission frigates and other defense equipment.

We expect to continue our strong partnership in major areas of concern such as Climate Change, Green Digital Growth, smart farming, labor and migration, and other areas.

As always, our future exchanges, while looking towards innovative responses to the challenges ahead, will always be guided by our shared commitment to our long-term mutual goals of securing a prosperous, just, and sustainable future for our countries and the rest of the world.

The Philippines is eager to face new opportunities in the coming year with Korea as we further elevate and enhance our historical relations.

Theresa Dizon-De Vega,

Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea
