Parents care much about their children’s bedtime and night wakings. But as kids grow up, parental interest in quality sleep tends to decline _ it’s the responsibility of their siblings themselves.

Now Samsung Electronics strives to take on the old roles of parents toward their babies by taking care of sleep of the company’s smartphone users.

Samsung said on March 5, 2019 that the Seoul-based tech giant will join hands with Calm to improve its service via Samsung Health, its wellness app launched in 2013.

Samsung Health is installed by default on many Samsung smartphones, mostly in recent models. It is possible to disable the app but difficult to remove. The app also can be downloaded via the Samsung Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.

A Samsung official said that consumers can set up the app by tapping the “Mindfulness” icon in the Samsung Health app and follow the subsequent steps as directed.

Calm is the leading app for sleep and relaxation. More than 40 million people have downloaded it and the number is rising at an exponential rate.

“Our work with Calm is going to make it easier than ever for Samsung Health users to practice mindfulness, so they can work toward achieving better overall health,” Samsung Senior Vice President Peter Koo said.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Calm, a true innovator in the mindfulness space, to support better mental health for consumers around the world.”

Calm gets excited

Calm’s Chief Strategy Officer Alex Will also expressed his hypes over the partnership with the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer.

“Over 100,000 new people are downloading Calm each day, as more people are looking to technology to provide better wellness experiences,” Will said in a statement.

“We’re expected with a global partner like Samsung to bring the very best of Calm to new platforms, and enable millions of users to benefit from lower stress, less anxiety and more restful sleep.”
