New smartphone will be launched next month

Samsung Electronics is expected to disclose its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S21, next month, possibly with a stylus, according to the firm’s mobile division leader

President Roh Tae-moon, who leads the smartphone division, also said that the Seoul-based tech giant will broaden its line of folding phones throughout next year.

“We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup,” he said.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone,” he noted.

It has been rumored that Samsung will start stylus support for Galaxy phones beyond the Note line.

Watchers note that Roh is practically confirming the rumor.

There also have been reports that the Galaxy S21 will be disclosed on Jan. 14, the last day of the Consumer Electronics Show.

A Samsung official refused to confirm the exact date of the Galaxy S21’s launch but admitted that the new smartphone will support its stylus, dubbed S Pen.

“Many media outlets report that President Roh confirmed stylus support of the Galaxy S21. The interpretation appears to be right,” the Samsung spokesperson said.

Midway through 2019, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold, the world’s first foldable phone. The outfit also come up with the vertically folding Galaxy Z Flip early this year.

The industry tracker Display Supply Chain Consultants announced this week that Samsung’s market share in this year’s smartphone market approaches 90 percent.
