Tech giant launches new platform in U.S., Korea

Samsung Electronics has launched a one-stop shop for users to browse and add a wide range of services to enhance their experience with the company’s artificial intelligence named Bixby.

The Seoul-based company said July 1 that the new platform dubbed Bixby Marketplace is open to users in the United States and Korea.

“The Bixby Marketplace’s official launch lays the foundation for an open ecosystem of useful services that developers will continuously enrich, and users will be able to make their mobile experience more personal and intuitive,” a Samsung official said.

“The key to Bixby’s convenience is simple: customization. Our intelligence platform is designed to learn what you like to do and then work with your favorite apps and services to help you get more done—faster.”

The official said that the Bixby Marketplace takes the customized experience to the next level by offering easy access to the various range of capsules. The Marketplace includes such capsules as Google Maps and Spotify.

Users need to access the Bixby Marketplace from the Bixby main page. After they start the main page, they can get to the Marketplace by swiping left. Then, capsules are organized by various categories, according to the official.

“Searching by capsule name, developer or keyword makes it easy to find the capsules you need, while curated staff picks and user reviews highlight capsules that users will find particularly useful,” he said.

“Capsules can be added with a single tap of a button, and users can also rate and review capsules to ensure the highest quality Bixby capsules are the most visible to users in the Bixby Marketplace.”

Samsung has iterated that it will continue to improve the Bixby platform to preempt the competition among global smartphone manufacturers.

The company is the world’s largest maker of smartphones.
