Korean giant takes part in SupplySide West

South Korea’s Samyang Corp. announced on Nov. 17 that the company had demonstrated its technological edge during the 2022 SupplySide West earlier this month.

SupplySide West is an annual gathering of nutrition professionals where both buyers and suppliers from throughout the industry get together.

In particular, Samyang showed off its competitiveness in high-value-added specialty substances during the fair held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The Seoul-based company spotlighted allulose, which can help reduce sugar consumption. The substance, which was found in figs and grapes, delivers sweetness similar to sucrose with zero calories.

In 2016, Samyang started cranking out liquid allulose based on its own enzyme. Recently, it established in Korea a dedicated factory to manufacture solid allulose.

To market the new-type products, Samyang came up with a new brand, dubbed Nexweet, which is the combination of two words, “Next” and “Sweet.”

On top of allulose, Samyang showcased various other products or substances, including Fiberest.

The company said that a lot of people had visited its booth during the exhibition.

“More than 17,000 people visited our booth during the Supply Side West to forge ahead with consultations with customers,” a Samyang official said.

“We had great opportunities to let them know our competitiveness in high-functional substances. We will continue to show off our edge in global food substance fairs down the road.”

Samyang is South Korea’s top-tier company in foodstuffs, chemicals, and plastics. Its history stretches back almost 100 years ago.
