Premium outlet launches a summer event

Shinsegae Simon has embarked on an event, called “Vacation Shopping Week,” during July 31 and August 17 aimed at attracting shoppers over the summer season.

The Seoul-headquartered company announced that the two-and-half-week event will take place at its four premium outlets near Seoul and in Busan.

Famous brands are offering unprecedented benefits. In particular, Nike plans to provide up to 70 percent discounts for products from last year. Such players as Adidas, Puma, Descente, and New Balance will join.

The four outlets will also come up with their own promotional events. For example, people will be able to snap up products of Samsung C&T at discounted prices at its Yeoju outlet.

Shinsegae Simon was established in the mid-2000s through cooperation between two entities.

Back then, South Korea’s leading retail conglomerate Shinsegae Group teamed up with Simon Property Group, the first-tier real estate company in the United States.

The joint venture launched its first outlet in Yeoju near Seoul in the late 2000s. It also opened two outlets in Paju and Siheung in 2011 and 2017, respectively. Both are located near Seoul.

Its Busan outlet debuted in 2013. The area is the country’s largest port city located in its southeastern area.

Currently, CEO Cho Chang-hyun is in charge of the company, which has successfully dealt with the challenge of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus via proactive quarantine efforts.
