SPC’s Baskin Robbins announced on July 4 that it had come up with a new dessert food along with Kakao Friends, characters based on emoticons of KakaoTalk, Korea’s top instant messaging service provider.

Through the two-way collaboration, Baskin Robbins has launched Ryan Mango Macaron as the “taste of July.”

The new dessert combines an apple-mango sherbet with a chewy macaron and a kaymak, a beloved Turkish staple dubbed as the taste of heaven.

Ryan is the most popular among the emoticons on KakaoTalk. It looks like a bear, but it’s in fact a lion with a round boy shape and an expressionless face.

As the cake of the month, Baskin Robbins has introduced Ryan’s Summer Adventure, a three-dimensional chocolate cake with the face of Ryan.

On top of the two products, the Seoul-based company noted that it had brought about various foods to meet customers’ demands in time with the summer season.

“We hope that people will be able to do well during the hot season together with our premium dessert foods in July,” a Baskin Robbins official said.

SPC is South Korea’s food conglomerate with a variety of brands both at home and abroad.

On the back of the partnership with Dunkin’ Brands, the food giant started the premium ice cream brand Baskin Robbins here.
