Hyundai plans London event with K-pop band

Hyundai Motor runs its official Twitter account to come up with two or three posts every week. Few respond to them because its posting typically wins less than 10 retweets.

But things are totally different when Hyundai posts anything related to K-pop superstar BTS, who is the brand ambassador of the Seoul-based automaker’s premium SUV named the Palisade.

On May 24, Hyundai announced an event with BTS slated for May 31 in London on its Twitter account, which was retweeted more than 40,000 times.

“Calling all fans, lovers of #Hyundai and #BTS, if you happen to be in London next Friday, come witness the 1-hour exclusive of our journey with BTS on the world’s most iconic screen at Piccadilly Circus,” Hyundai said.

“You don’t want to miss it, so mark your calendars: 31 May, from 6-7 p.m.”

Hyundai said that participants need to visit Piccadilly Circus in London during 6-7 p.m. on May 31 to take a photo or video of the Piccadilly Circus screen so as to upload it on Twitter.

Winners who will get a BT21 Bag Charm Package will be announced on June 15.

Fans react positively to the Twitter message of Hyundai.

“This is amazing! So excited,” a fan said.

“Now I know what I will be doing on May 31 in London,” another fan said.

BTS is now on a globe-trotting stadium tour, and the seven-member boy band will be in London this week to perform at the Wembley Stadium on June 1 and 2.

The global tour is a follow-up to the septet’s latest studio album “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which topped global albums charts after its release midway through April.

Hyundai teamed up with BTS last year to celebrate the launch of the Palisade, the eight-seater car that hit markets earlier this year to win great popularity.
